Kolympithra beach 10' (6 km) - entertainment
In fact, it is not one, but two beaches in one! That’s why it covers every taste. On one side you will find the sheltered and cosmopolitan Mikri Kolympithra, which is also known as Mikri Ammos or Komtiani. Its other side, Megali Kolympithra, or Megali Ammos, will win you over with its tranquility and encourage you to enjoy the adventure of sea sports in its waves. A characteristic feature of Kolympithra is the impressive view of Drakonissi, a verdant rock island located directly opposite.
Volax village 6' (3 km) - tradition
Volax or Volakas, one of the most special villages that Tinos has to offer! Built at an altitude of 340 meters, about 17 kilometers from Chora, it makes a difference with its lunar landscape, the like of which you will not find anywhere else in Greece. Here, climbing enthusiasts can enjoy two types of climbing: with rope and bouldering, i.e. climbing low rocks of a maximum height of five meters without the use of a rope, with the only safety being the placement of special layers on the ground. In the Folklore Museum of Volakas, the life of the people of the 19th century comes to life. Through the 250 exhibits, you will learn everything about life in the village, livestock farming, the daily life of a family, but also the social and church life of the people of another, distant era.
Religious and Folklore Museum of the Jesuit Fathers 2' (200 m) -museum
The Religious and Folklore Museum of the Jesuit Fathers is like those well-hidden treasures, which preserve within them cultural wealth of insurmountable value. In this museum, an old Jesuit monastery, another era comes to life, where its objects speak for it and it is none other than the life of the Jesuit monks. Many objects of agricultural and pastoral life, household goods, oil production and winemaking, graphic design and textiles are exhibited there. The tour ends with a visit to the church of Agios Joseph and its sacristy, where the most imposing church of the island along with its liturgical vessels is revealed to the visitors’ eyes!
Exomburgos Castle, Exomburgos 7' (4 km) -activities
Exombourgo is the castle of Tinos. It was once the strongest castle in the Cyclades. It was one of the last castles in Greece that fell into the hands of the Turks. When the Turks conquered it in 1715, they blew it up and destroyed it. Exomburgos is a rocky conical hill dominating the southern part of Tinos, in a privileged position that offered good physical Fortification and visual control of much of the island and the busy strait between Tinos-Mykonos.
The village of Loutra
The village of Loutra, where the Gaea Dream complex is located, is located in the center of the island and makes it easy to access all the villages and beaches of the island so that you can explore it.
It is just 6’ from the famous beach of Kolymbithra. In the village, 50m away, there is a Venetian-style café bistro with local products called “Serviam all day”. There are also 2 museums in the village that you can visit and learn about the history of the place. There are many villages around, each with its own unique beauty and history:
Kampos Village
Kambos Village, Tarambados and Smardakito, famous for the Tsoklis Museum and the traditional alleys but also for the food.
Κrokos & Skalados Village
famous for its bistro cafes and delightful views.
Ag. Romanos Beach
Agios Romanos beach in Tinos, known as “A hug in the Aegean”, is located in the southwestern part of the island, approximately 12 kilometers from Chora. Access is easy by following the main road to Pyrgos, where you will turn left towards Agios Romanos and in approximately 3 kilometers you will reach the beach. Alternatively, you can choose the coastal route after Kionia, although you will need to cross 3.5 kilometers of dirt road. The beach combines sand and pebbles, offering natural shade from tamarisks and is organized, which makes it popular and busy, ideal for social gatherings. Relatively sheltered, the area offers pleasant conditions for swimming. At the end of the road there is the chapel of Agios Romanos, which is worth visiting, while at the end of the beach there is a small port that serves small boats, making it perfect for water activities.
Komi Village
Komi is one of the five largest villages of Tinos, both in area and population. It is located just 12 kilometers from Chora, along the “Livadi”, which is the greenest and most fertile part of the island, and is 3.5 kilometers from the beach of Kolymbithra. With excellent road access and connection to Exo Meria as well as the Upper Parts of the island, Komi offers more than just a simple visit.
Tsoklis Museum
A visit to the Kostas Tsoklis museum is a pleasant surprise not only for art lovers but for all visitors. The emblematic sculpture at the entrance to the museum reveals the greatness of the artist. The museum operates in the renovated school of the village.
